Trouble at Duke

When they met at Michigan, they chanted, "Kill the Jews." When they came to Rutgers, swastikas appeared on Hillel. Now, they are coming to Duke. The Palestine Solidarity Movement is dedicated to the destruction of the Jewish State by "any means necessary" - including terrorism and suicide bombing.


Now, Palestine Solidarity, the American, student arm of the International Solidarity Movement, has announced that its National Conference will be held at Duke University, Oct. 15, 16, and 17, 2004.

The Petition asks that Duke University President Richard Brodhead block this group from Duke campus the way Rutgers President Richard McCormick did last year. American Universities should not lend their campuses to groups that endorse suicide bombing and violence as a means of resolving political questions.

История про демократию.
Зачем-то провёл ночь за разговорами о демократии. Да, да, и я тоже бываю без ума - вместо того, чтобы за девками бегать по кровати, или там вином в стакане булькать, иногда я именно так провожу свои ночи.
Так вот, после этих бестолковых разговоров я вспомнил чудесную фразу, что произнесла моя преподавательница но научному коммунизму. Она встала перед аудиторией, и, назидательно подняв палец, сказала:
- Говоря о демократии, мы всегда должны помнить, что это за демократия. Демократия кого над кем.
